A plate for Eleguá in Santería, usually made of clay and decorated with red/black colors, cowrie shells (shells), and keys, is used to present offerings (addimú) such as roasted corn, sweets, or smoked guinea pig. It is used to honor the Orisha, ask for the opening of paths, protection, and to ensure that the doors of prosperity are always open.
Offering Container: It is placed on the ground (usually near the front door) to put the foods that Eleguá likes.
Seat of the Orisha: It serves as a sacred place to place the representation of Eleguá (otá or prepared coconut).
