In Catholic imagery, the Infant Jesus of Prague is one of many that can be used to represent Ellegua, the Orisha of the roads. All ceremonies performed in Santería must first have Ellegua's approval before proceeding. He holds the keys to the past, present, and future. Ellegua is seen as an old man and, conversely, as a child; likewise, he can be both a positive and a negative force. In Haitian Vodou, the corresponding spirit is Papa Legba.
