Articulated metal doll. The "desmembrado" of Bromú (or Boromú) in Santería (the Orisha-Ifá tradition) is a ritual tool, often a metal figure, that represents the bones and skeletal structure of the deceased, with Bromú being a deity linked to the realm of death, cemeteries, and the companion of Yewá.

  • Protection and Custody: Bromú and his brother Brosiá are the guardians of Oduduwa's secrets and are given along with this orisha to protect.
  • Veneration of the ancestors (Eggun): It is used in the worship of the dead, representing the physical part (bones) that remains after death.
  • Cemetery Rituals: It is directly associated with the energy of the cemetery, working together with Yewá.
  • Assembly of Deities: The desmembrado is part of the "carga" or preparation of Bromú's vessel, which includes cemetery earth elements, bones, and other sacred materials.
