Sheath for Oya

The Oya pod is a spiritual tool used in Santería (Regla de Ocha) to honor the Orisha of the winds, lightning, and the cemetery, Oya. It is used in altars, offerings, and ceremonies as a symbol of protection, transformation, and to invoke the dynamic and warrior energy of the deity.

• Representation on the Altar: It is placed as a decorative and sacred tool that captures the essence of Oya, reflecting her power and attributes, generally covered with multicolored fabrics, stones, ribbons, or bells.
• Ritual Tool: Practitioners use it in ceremonies to invoke Oya, as it represents her strength, movement, and change.
• Protection and Cleansing: It is associated with the cleansing of bad influences from the air and the protection of the devotees, especially women, that the Orisha provides.
• Ceremonial Sound: In tradition, the painted and decorated flamboyant tree pod is used to call or invoke Oya
