The covered garabato (or simply garabato) is a fundamental powerful spiritual tool in Santería (Yoruba Religion) and Palo Mayombe, associated mainly with Eleguá. It is generally a hook-shaped or "V" shaped branch covered with red and black beads, which represent the colors of Eleguá.
Opening Paths: It is used in rituals to open paths, remove obstacles, and facilitate new opportunities.
Cleansing and Protection: It serves to cleanse negative energies from people or spaces, protecting against evil.
Attracting Prosperity: Being a tool of Eleguá, it is used to call for good fortune, evolution, and luck.
Spiritual Hook: The hook shape symbolizes the ability to "hook" or attract positive things, as well as to bring a person or situation toward oneself.
