Oshun-Lined Guira

The covered güiro, specifically when prepared for Oshun (the Orisha of love, wealth, and fresh waters), serves primarily as a ritual instrument for worship, consecration, and petition. Unlike Osain's güiros, which are for defense, Oshun's focuses on sweetness, abundance, and spiritual connection.

• Attribute and Worship: It is used as a sacred element representing Oshun's presence in the home or during ceremonies, often adorned with yellow, gold, or her colors of beads.
• Petition for Prosperity and Love: It is used to invoke the goddess in search of love, fertility, happiness, and financial abundance.
• Ceremonies (Güiro to Oshun): It is part of the santería music ensembles (chants, guataca, drum) used to celebrate and honor the Orisha.
• Ritual Offering: It serves to contain or present offerings dedicated to her.
