Maraca Lined for Yemaya Unit

The covered maraca for Yemayá in Santería is used in rituals, ceremonies, and prayers to invoke, greet, and honor the orisha of the sea, the mother of all orishas. It serves as an instrument of spiritual power that cleanses the environment, awakens the energy of the ocean, and serves as an offering on altars.

• Ritual Use: It is used to accompany chants and dances during ceremonies (Oro Seco) in honor of Yemayá.
• Meaning: The covered maraca, usually with blue and white beads (representing the sea and the foam), symbolizes the connection with this deity.
• Elements: The handle often includes seven strands of beads and shells, symbolic numbers of Yemayá.
