2 Silver Metal Oars for Yemaya

The 2 metal oars (usually silver, made of stainless steel, lead, or silver) are fundamental tools within Santería (the Orisha rule) for Yemayá, the Orisha who owns the sea and is the mother of all Orishas. They serve to represent her dominion over the ocean currents and her ability to guide the lives of her children.

• Dominion and Guidance: The oars symbolize Yemayá's ability to "row" or guide the lives of her devotees through emotional turbulence and life's challenges, leading them toward calm waters.
• Balance and Stability: They represent the pursuit of balance in life and stability, both spiritual and material.
• Accompaniment in the Orisha: They are part of the set of tools (sopera) received upon consecration in the religion, representing her power over the sea.
• Mermaid Attribute: As Yemayá is often associated with the mermaid, the oars connect with navigation and the protection of fishermen and sailors
