Arnica

In the context of Santería and Afro-Cuban religions, arnica tincture (or the plant itself) is primarily used for its energetic and healing properties related to protection, cleansing, and the healing of physical traumas that are also considered negative energy burdens.

Although arnica is scientifically recognized for its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties for bruises and sprains, in Santería it is attributed the following spiritual and ritual uses:

• Spiritual Cleansing and Purification: It is used in baths and rubs to remove "dirty blood" or stagnant energies after receiving blows, falls, or bad news, helping to cleanse the aura.
• Protection against negative energies: Due to its ability to heal, it is considered a defensive plant that helps ward off negative vibrations that cause instability.
• Relief of physical-spiritual pain: It is applied to relieve physical pain believed to be caused by spiritual influences, muscle pain, or "bad air."
• Use in healing works: It is used in preparations that seek to improve the health of the physical body as a vehicle for the spirit.
