Canistel (known in English as eggfruit or yellow zapote) is primarily used as addimú (offering). In Santería, the whole fruit or its pulp is consecrated to Oshún, the Orisha of love, sweetness, and fresh waters.

• Sweetness offerings: Offerings are prepared by placing 5 ripe fruits bathed in honey and cinnamon to ask Oshún for prosperity, sincere love, stability, and the sweetening of a relationship or situation. The number \(5\) is sacred and represents this deity.
• Opening of paths: It is used in rituals to unblock stagnant situations, improve the economy, and attract good luck and emotional harmony.
