Shango Lined Guira 5"H x 4"W

The covered güiro for Shango (often called [cheré or shekeré] when decorated) is used in Santería to invoke, honor, and set the rhythm during ceremonies dedicated to this orisha, lord of the drum, thunder, and justice. It is an essential percussion instrument for praising Shango and is characterized by being adorned with beads in his colors (red and white).

• Instrument of Consecration and Praise: It is used to accompany the chants (suyeres) and dances in honor of Shango, attracting his energy.
• Santería Musical Ensemble Structure: It is part of the musical ensemble in the güiros (minor saint festivals), along with the vocals, guataca, and drums.
• Veneration of Virility and Strength: As the Orisha of fire and justice, the covered güiro vibrates to highlight the force of nature that Shango represents.
