Archangel Gabriel 12" Tall

In the Yorùbá religion (Santería/Regla de Ocha), the concept of Archangel Gabriel does not have a single direct equivalent, but his role as a divine messenger is commonly associated with Eshu-Elegbara, the messenger orisha who connects the earthly and divine realms, grants wisdom, and acts as an intermediary.

• Eshu-Elegbara (The Messenger): Due to his role in carrying messages from humans to the orishas and from orishas to humans, Eshu is the entity that most closely resembles Gabriel's communicative and revelatory role in the Judeo-Christian tradition.
• Syncretism and Variations: Although Eshu is the primary messenger, in some interpretations of Catholic-Yoruba syncretism, the figures may vary depending on local tradition, but Eshu-Elegbara is the most direct functional equivalent to the role of divine messenger.
