Divine Child

Catholic Divine Child represents the innocence we all have within us.

The Holy Child represents the innocence that we all have within us.

In Yoruba syncretism, the figure of the "Divine Child" is primarily associated with Elegguá (or Eleguá), the orisha who opens and closes paths, equivalent to the Holy Child of Atocha in the Catholic faith, as both are seen as small children and messengers, symbolizing the beginning of everything, fortune, misfortune, and protection. This connection arises from transculturation in Cuba, where Yoruba deities merged with Catholic saints to preserve their beliefs, with Elegguá being the first of the Warriors and fundamental for any initiate.
