"Negro Francisco" in the context of Palo Mayombe refers to an important figure, a spirit or entity, that represents the strength and power of the Mayombe branch, associated with the earthly, the dead (nfumbis) and the energies of the forest, often seen as a guide for protection and spiritual warfare, although he is not a Catholic "saint" like Saint Francis of Assisi, but an African entity linked to the Congo tradition, with great power in cauldron rituals and working with the spirits of the ancestors for well-being or harm, being a feared and respected figure within the tradition.
