Lined Guira for Orula

The lined güira (or lined güiro) for Orula in Santería primarily serves as a sacred and protective container used by babalawos to keep the secrets, tools, or attributes of the orisha Orunmila (Orula).

• Sacred Seat: It acts as a physical container to safeguard the energy and secrets of Orula, the orisha of divination and destiny, adorned with beads that usually feature the colors green and yellow.
• Protection and Power: It is an instrument that represents strength and defense, used in the worship of Ifá to protect against osogbos (evils or negative energies).
• Ritual Use: Although the Irofa (divination board or tool) is more common, the decorated güiro is a vessel for worship and safeguarding the orisha in the home.
