Ibeyis / African Jimaguas 11"X4"

Ibeyis / African Jimaguas figures, 11" x 4". Decorative and ritual pieces for use in Santería practices.

The Agboran Ibeyis is a wooden figure (agboran) that represents the Jimaguas (Ibeyis), the twin orishas of the Yoruba religion, children of Shangó and Ochún. This carved representation, mentioned in treatises on Ceremonies and Paths of the Ibeyis, acts as a vessel for their energy to attract prosperity, children's health, and protection against evil.

• Function: It is used in rituals to strengthen the energy of the twins, serving as a guardian of the home and childhood.
• Meaning: It represents the joy, unity, and innocence that overcome obstacles.
• Charge: The Agboran of the Ibeyis carries a special sacred charge described in Santería treatises.
• Relationship with Eshu: Although they are different deities, agboranes (wooden figures) are also common in the representation of orishas such as Eshu.
