Wooden Axe and Sword Set

Carved wood, Axe 20"H x 9"W; Sword 20"H x 6"W x 2"W. The wooden axe and sword set in Santería (Regla de Ocha) serves primarily as ceremonial tools and attributes of the Orisha Shango (Changó). They represent his power, strength, justice, and dominion over lightning and thunder. These pieces are used in altars, rituals, and traditional dances.

• Attributes of Shango: The double-edged axe (or oshe) and the sword symbolize Shango's authority.
• Altar Decoration (Ilé-ocha): They are essential for dressing Shango's altar, often placed next to the tray containing his stones (otanes).
