Saint Clare of Assisi 5"

In Yoruba Santería, Saint Clare of Assisi (or sometimes Saint Lucy) is primarily syncretized with the female orisha Yewá , a deity associated with death, mystery, purity, the protection of the deceased, and the transition between life and death, representing the "guardian angel" for some, and is celebrated on dates close to her Catholic feast day, highlighting the connection between the Virgin and the orisha in Cuban faith.

Saint Clare of Assisi was a 13th-century Italian woman who, inspired by the life of Saint Francis, founded the female branch of the Franciscan order, known as the Second Order or Order of the Poor Clares.
