Obi Edun, commonly known as "Monkey Tail" or Monkey Kola (Cola lepidota or Cola millenii), is a sacred fruit of African origin that is extremely important in Santería (the Rule of Osha-Ifá) and the Yoruba tradition. It is considered an element of high esoteric value that carries the energy of truth, protection, and a direct connection with the Orishas and ancestors

Obi Edun is a fundamental component in the preparation of Ashe (sacred powders or solid elements) used for the charging and consecration of the Orishas' receptacles or tools (warriors, soup bowls, etc.).

• "Giving Life": It is used to ensure that consecrations are complete, providing firmness, spiritual power, and vitality to the Orishas, and is essential in Osha and Ifá ceremonies.
• Charging Component (Akose/Ebo): It is part of the charges that babalawos prepare to create protections, amulets, and powers.
