Large Olokun Jar Decorated with Shells 18"H X13"W

Decorated with shells, entirely handmade

The Olokun jar prepared by a babalawo is a sacred foundation of the Yoruba religion that represents the deity of the ocean depths, Olokun. It serves to receive health, stability, prosperity, and protection, in addition to connecting with the deep wisdom and mysteries of life and death.

• Sacred Container: It is a clay or concrete jar, often decorated with seashells and marine elements, that houses the secret of the Orisha.
• Power of the Deity: Olokun is the orisha of the sea in its deepest state, androgynous, related to wealth, health, and fertility.
• Consecration (Ifá): The version delivered by a babalawo follows the rituals of Ifá, often including special charges and secrets of the religion, making it a powerful tool for balance.
